Professor S.M. Reddy, has been a distinguished researcher, made significant contributions to academia and research,
holding key positions such as Head of Botany, Chair of Board of Studies, and establishing the Microbiology Department at Kakatiya University. With a distinguished career spanning over five decades,
he guided more than 40 Ph.D. students, published over 500 research papers, and authored 19 academic books. His research areas include fungal taxonomy, soil sickness, post-harvest pathology, and mycorrhizae,
and he has completed numerous funded projects while actively participating in curriculum development and scientific societies.
Born in Telangana in 1940, Dr. Reddy’s academic journey includes a Ph.D. from Jai Narain Vyas University and postdoctoral research in Prague. He has served as President of the Indian Society of Mycology and Plant Pathology,
and received prestigious awards such as the Best Teacher Award from the Andhra Pradesh government and the Dr. P. Maheshwari Medal. His international exposure, leadership in scientific organizations, and extensive publications
have cemented his reputation as a prominent figure in plant pathology and microbiology.
